Allegheny Medical performs all components of an occupational physical in one visit. As the longest, independently-owned provider of occupational health care, our services comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations for workplace injury cases. We also offer full, preventative consultations to businesses that want to create a safer, healthier workplace and reduce work-related injuries.

Our occupational therapy services are provided by specially-trained, highly experienced professionals, including physicians, nurses, rehabilitation specialists, and physical therapists. We provide both in-clinic and mobile occupational health services.

What is a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)?

The Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is used to measure an applicant’s ability to physically perform the responsibilities of a job. By measuring these specific capabilities, an employer can reduce the risk of injury based on the employee's functional capacity to perform the job.  

The benefits of having an FCE performed include:

  • Quantifying an applicant's physical abilities in relation to physical responsibilities pertaining to the job
  • Assures proper use of safe techniques in functional lifting tasks
  • Reduces workplace injuries
  • Increases an applicant's awareness and understanding of the physical dynamics of the job requirement
