Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation FAQs

Sports Medicine Overview

Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation can assist in restoring movement and function while also providing interventions to optimize overall performance and the risk of re-injury. The team at Allegheny Medical utilizes various interventions to meet the needs of the athlete starting with an overall functional assessment, including isometric muscle testing, to develop a personalized treatment plan. Providers may also utilize other treatments including electrical stimulation, BEMER, cupping, ultrasound, and other modalities to optimize function and performance.

Our Rehabilitation Services

Many people experience injury, accidents, trauma or disease that impacts their ability to enjoy a full range of motion in one or more areas of the body. Through physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation highly trained and specialized doctors and therapists can work with you to help you regain and maintain improved functioning and movement and also to help naturally reduce or eliminate any pain you may be experiencing.

For patients in North Fayette, Findlay, Coraopolis, Moon Township, Pittsburgh and Robinson Township meeting with a physical therapist and discussing the issues you are experiencing is the first step. Your physical therapist will then work with you to develop exercises and activities that you can do in physical rehabilitation sessions as well as at home to help return movement to normal or as close as possible given the injury or health issues.

In addition, the doctors and physical therapists at Allegheny Medical are able to complete employment physicals both pre-hire as well as to confirm ability to return to work after an injury or illness.
